Energy considers both new energy technologies and energy storage technologies, as well as dramatic advances in current energy technologies (both renewable and non-renewable). This is NOT about applying already existing technology innovations for the benefit of the environment. (Example: a new solar technology innovator would be appropriate, but applying someone else's solar innovations to a new building would be innovation-one-step removed and not be appropriate.)
